A Century
of Haulage

  • Restored classics, signwritten back into the liveries of companies that mostly don't exist any more.
  • British iron of the 50s and 60s: Leyland, AEC, Albion, the trucks that came in under the old Commonwealth rules.
  • The American era: Macks and Kenworths from the 70s, and the Whites that came over from Australia after them.
  • Working trucks too, modern gear off the road today parked alongside the old stuff.

How Far
We've Come

A lot of the trucks that came into New Zealand through the 60s, 70s and 80s were unique to this country. Operators worked around the laws the New Zealand way and ran high horsepower because of the terrain. Plenty of that iron is being restored right now, and a fair bit of it is coming to Cromwell.

Every little kid has stood on the side of the road and pulled the arm for a toot. Some of us grew up and drove them. There's a bit of kid in everyone, really.
